Lauren’s Story

I’ve always lived at the intersection of creativity. I trained in theatre design – where I crafted stories through sets and costumes – before establishing a successful visual arts practice… but singing was a quiet passion I kept tucked away. I have always loved it, but the thought of actually singing in front of people terrified me.

 

That started to change after a UNION Open Mic in Leeds and a few singing lessons, but it wasn’t until began with Hull Musical Theatre Company that I built the confidence to explore performance and step into the spotlight.

 

Now years later my cabaret act, Ruby Moon (who is essentially an exaggerated version of me) brings together everything I love — singing, dramatic but relatable storytelling and OTT costumes — all while fostering a sense of community and fun through in-the-moment performance.

Ruby’s Story

I’m Ruby Moon, a force of nature born under a shimmering moon in London’s East End – but with dreams as big and bright as the West End lights. And yes, I may be on Universal Credit but it doesn’t mean I’m not already a star, Darling. Afterall, every stage is a temple and I am it’s goddess!

My thousands of adoring fans (will one day) describe me as having a touch of magic, a dash of drama, and a flair for the fabulous – and that’s me alright. But Ruby Moon isn’t just a name, my love … it’s an experience. Whether I’m belting out a tune, casting a spell over the audience or draping myself in something gorgeous, my name is a promise that the world is far more enchanting than it seems. And believe you me, sweetheart, the moon is only beginning to rise.
